Picture it. DC. 2016. Three rounds of 40K. Two 1000pt doubles matches and a 2K singles match. It’s awesome, it’s a whole day of play. It was preceded by staying up until 1AM the night before to finish a model and then waking up at 5 to drive down. Carlo and I had won our last of the doubles matches and were feeling pretty good. His Space Wolves made short work of a Khorne Lord of Skulls so we were feeling pretty good. The awards ceremony gets underway and I’m packing up my stuff to head over to what I thought was a briefing about the next day’s start to the narrative campaign. So at this point I’m dead on my feet, like Necron-in-the-tomb levels of tired here. All I want in the world is a beer and a bed.
So you can imagine my surprise when I found out that this was no mere briefing, but an 1850pt start to the narrative event.
IT’S 11PM. I’VE BEEN PLAYING SINCE 10AM.
HOW COULD THE EMPEROR LET THIS HAPPEN!
But I digress, it was awesome. I swaggered through an ass whooping at the hands of XXX’s White Scars. I was perked up by our trios team, Team Loquacious, winning the second place Best Painted award. Jason’s Nurgle army and Carlo’s Space Wolves paired with my AdMech made for a solid looking table that we were all really proud of.
That’s the whole story. I’ll be back next year to win 1st place trios theme and painting and a single model award. Just you watch…
